“…the Lord asks you to fear the Lord my God, to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, walk in obedience to Him, to love Him, and observe the Lord’s commands for your own good” Deuteronomy 10:12 (NIV).
When I think of why I write devotions, I am expressing my love, gratitude, support, recognition, and respectfor God. To turn out a completed devotion, I turn to God and His word then I take charge and apply myself. Devotions do take effort and time; but, it is gratifying once the devotion is completed. It is gratifying becauseI do “fear the Lord my God”. To fear Him I respect Him – I love Him!
In our daily life we do fall short. We have not pay 100% attention to the Lord; we are not always present for the Lord; and we have not always gone to the Lord for guidance (at least not at first). There are times weproceed without “fearing the Lord”. Those are the times that are the least gratifying. Those are the times God shows us that we are His children and we need “to fear the Lord my God”. It is with Him, we are able todemonstrate and grow in our faith.
Our Heavenly Father, thank you for providing us with your love. You ask us to respect You, follow You, Love You, serve You and obey You. You are growing our hearts and minds to reflect Christ’s character traits, forgive us for not providing You with what you ask of us. Let us be an encouragement for others by the way we live. We know you are pleasing and satisfying, let Christ’s love motivate us! In Jesus name. Amen.
